Atletico Madrid are ready to offer Thomas Lemar to Arsenal in exchange for their star forward Alexandre Lacazette. The Spanish giants will only offer Lemar for Lacazette if they are unable to sign Cavani by the end of January. The PSG striker has his contract ending this summer and is on the verge of moving.
Meanwhile, Diego Simeone’s squad has only scored 22 goals in the domestic League and have found it difficult ro gwt the ball past the net which has resulted in them being 5 points behind the table toppers: Barcelona and Real Madrid.
The Italian club is reluctant to sell the Uruguay international which has led to Atleti’s interest in Alexandre Lacazette. The club has previous shown interest in the Frenchman and are willing to get him for a deal on Lemar.
The reports, however, state that once the decision of Cavani not joining Madrid is confirmed, Lacazette will be bid. Arsenal have also shown their interest in Thomas Lemar and it will be no surprise if the winger joins London.
The £51 million buy from Monaco has not proved worthy for Atletico Madrid who are therefore willing to unleash the band. There are reports that the winger can also join Tottenham Hotspur or even Chelsea, both of whom have shown keen interest on him.
Letting Lacazette go will be a big blow for Arsenal albeit the forward underperforming this season. He may have only scored 6 goals for the Gunners but is an important recipe to their success which will certainly get back it’s taste.
Mikel Arteta has accepted the fact of Lacazette’s bad form and has asked him to step up.
‘They now have to make a step forward now he is not able to contribute to the team with goals,’ Arteta said.
‘Someone else has to do it and I want to see that reaction too.’
The Spaniard added: ‘Losing probably the most important player is never nice.
‘We have other players that can play in that position.
‘We will try to find a way and be as competitive as possible.’
Lacazette may not leave the club as of now but his position is surely in danger and to protect it, he has to start striking otherwise the reports may not take time to become reality.
