Toby Alderweireld has branded The North London Derby as the ‘Biggest in the World’ as Tottenham Hotspur prepare to face Arsenal at the Emirates this Sunday.
Unai Emery will lead his 17 matches undefeated Gunners in the battlefield though they need to be wary as Spurs come into the fixture ending Chelsea’s unbeaten start to the campaign followed by impressive outing against Inter Milan in Wednesday’s Champions League clash which extended their winning run to six games in all competitions.
“Everybody who follows football knows how big this game is,” Alderweireld said. “It’s one of the biggest, maybe the biggest derby in the world so everybody knows it.
“I think we can beat everyone if we’re on it. Against Chelsea and then against Inter, two big teams, we’ve shown that we can get a very high level.”
Spurs have been handed a massive injury boost as Jan Vertonghen, who played his first match for almost two months against Inter in the mid-week after recovering from a hamstring injury and is looking forward to the clash of titans against Arsenal.
“It’s going to be massive,” he said. “They [Arsenal] look like a different team and it will be a big game.
“It’s always nice games to play at the Emirates, with two teams who want to play football and want to win. We have respect for each other in a good way and I’m looking forward to it, but I need a rest first.
“They look like a solid team and they’ve won many games in a row so they’re confident, but we’re confident too.
“We’re feeling well and working towards our best form. At the start we were winning games but maybe not with our best form. We’re growing now with every game. Chelsea was obviously very good and Inter Milan now, so hopefully we can keep this going for Sunday.”
Meanwhile, Harry Winks suggests that the game has come at about the right time for Tottenham.
“The form we’re in right now, it’s probably the perfect time to go there,” he said.”It’s a game the fans want to win and one we want to win. Three games in a week is going to be tough but confidence is high.
