Future of Granit Xhaka at Arsenal has come under alot of speculation after controversial events back in November.
And the 27-year-old midfielder was subject of Berlin from the moment he was stripped off of captaincy last month. Though the Swiss captain has started to get game time for the Gunners, a stay is irrelevant and inappropriate, both for the team and his future.
Yet, since Mikel Arteta took over the reigns as Arsenal manager, he has been vocal about how much he likes Granit and how important he would be in his plans. And he did admit the Swiss would stay at the club despite all the rumours including Xhaka’s agent linking him away.
Now, Mikel Arteta is not ruling out Granit Xhaka to take over the leadership at the club once again in the future despite Xhaka being stripped off captaincy earlier this season.
When asked by football.london whether he could consider Granit Xhaka captaining Arsenal again, Arteta said: “I don’t know, time will tell that.
“Now he’s happy to stay here, he’s completely committed and that’s a big plus today.”
“I don’t like to judge things that happened like this without all the information,” Arteta said of the incident in October. “When I got here I understood a little bit the whole picture. I understood the gravity of the situation, that it has to be resolved one way or another.
“I just tried to do the best to defend the club in the best possible way.”
