Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Kai Havertz will miss Arsenal’s upcoming match due to a knee injury, but the exact return timeline remains unclear. The manager explained that the club are still awaiting test results to determine the seriousness of the issue.

Speaking ahead of the Leeds United game, Arteta said: “We don’t really know yet the extent of it. We need a bit more time and some more tests and after that we will have more clarity about the next steps. I prefer not to talk about the specifics but he is not fit.”

The Germany international suffered the knee blow during his substitute appearance in the win at Old Trafford, raising fresh concerns following last season’s long hamstring recovery.

Havertz’s absence leaves Arsenal short of recognised strikers. Viktor Gyökeres stands as the only currently fit option after Gabriel Jesus missed the season’s start with an ACL injury. Arteta’s line-up flexibility is being tested.

A full picture will emerge only once the results from this week’s tests are available. Arteta warned the situation could still lead to further decisions, possibly even surgery. Until then, Arsenal must adapt with the personnel at hand whether through tactical tweaks or temporary reinforcements.

With the Leeds game looming, and further matches to follow, clarity on Havertz’s status is essential if Arsenal are to maintain momentum and squad balance.
