According to CaughtOffSide, Aston Villa boss Unai Emery requested to sign Arsenal right-back Kieran Tierney this summer.
The North London fans won’t forget the former manager since his Aston Villa side got a double over Arsenal last campaign. Those points turned out to be very crucial in the end as the Gunners lost the Premier League title to Manchester City by just two points.
TIME IS TICKING FOR TIERNEY AT THE EMIRATES
Tierney’s time at the Emirates has been marred by injuries. After joining Celtic under then-coach Emery in 2019, he was unable to hold his place in the team for the past few seasons.
Mikel Arteta decided to send him on loan to Real Sociedad in the previous campaign. The Scottish played decently for the Spanish outfit and is back in the hut at the Sobha Reality Training Centre.
The defender has scored six times and registered 13 assists in 124 appearances for the English giants. But any hopes of improving those numbers have been hit with a dent.

With the arrival of Riccardo Calafiori, the 27-year-old has been pushed further behind in the pecking order. He needs to tackle the presence of several stars at the right-back position.
Oleksandr Zinchenko, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Jurrien Timber are all ahead of him. Even Jacok Kiwior, who faces an uncertain future, can be preferred ahead of him in see-off games.
It is a disappointing period for such a talented and experienced defender who was once seen as a future star by the fans.
KIERAN TIERNEY DESIRES A MOVE AMID ASTON VILLA INTEREST
As per reports, Tierney wants to move to grab game time. But as per CaughtOffSide, Arteta has an important role for the player in the new seasons and wants him to stay. It is far better for the player to grab minutes since he is slowly heading into the prime years of his career. As per the same outlet, Spanish clubs Valencia, Girona, Sevilla, Celtic, Villa and Newcastle United are interested in the Arsenal star.

Emery’s Villa are looking forward to a deal but they might need to spend £25 million if they want to land their desired target. Tierney’s current contract with the Reds ends in 2025 and therefore, the club needs to make sure that they sell him now or witness him leave for free.
The Gooners might welcome the money with open arms as they head into the final weeks of the ongoing transfer window. They are also cashing in on Eddie Nketiah and Nottingham Forest are close to a deal.
These are some important funds for the team as they can get an FFP boost.
