Arsenal ace Bukayo Saka is delighted to have Raheem Sterling in the squad after his late summer move to the Emirates Stadium.
The 29-year-old joins Mikel Arteta’s team after being completely sidelined by the Chelsea hierarchy. The English international is a versatile addition and will provide cover for Saka at the right-wing position.
Both players know each other well after playing a handful of games together for the Three Lions. Saka praised the Blues loanee’s experience and attacking output in his post-match interview with BBC Sport’s Match of the Day.
He said:
“I’m happy he’s here, I’ve said hello to him. I am really happy to have him here. I am sure he will do amazing for us.”
Sterling inclusion will ease the pressure on Saka
The 22-year-old played nearly 47 league games for the Gooners in the previous campaign. He missed just three matches, and in his absence, Arsenal looked completely broken in attack.
With Reiss Nelson moving to Fulham on loan, the fans urged the club to sign a quality replacement to support Saka. Arteta was concerned about the academy graduate’s fitness, and hence, the right-wing position craved for a new arrival.
Sterling won’t be a guaranteed starter, but we might see him in action far more often due to his ability to sneak in various positions in the starting XI.
The former Manchester City could hit the ground running after the international break. We expect him to make his Arsenal debut against Tottenh*m Hotsp*r but the manager might be cautious and could let him start in the EFL Cup clash against Bolton on the 17th of September.
The North London outfit can’t afford to lose any more points from here. The club ruined their chances against Brighton and Hove Albion last weekend.
They will be facing Spurs and City next, and Arteta will demand a strong response from his starting XI.
