Arsenal have FINALLY signed Denis Suarez on loan from Barcelona after the Spaniard signed a contract extension with the Spanish Club until June 2021.
Unai Emery kept on rolling the dice until he got what he eventually wanted from the start of January window.
Arsenal also got a purchase option of signing the midfielder on a permanent basis this summer.
What will be interesting about this signing is; Whether or not Suarez becomes a regular for Unai Emery? Where will he play for the manager, Where would he fit in and who is the player that Suarez would replace? A lot of questions that come along with a new signing but with a midfield-laden squad, Suarez only adds-on to Emery’s decision woes.
No doubt he will be deployed as a right winger as already said by the manager himself. “Also a winger, right or left, one player can help us in this position,”said Emery.
A Ramsey-esque replacement?
All things apart, Suarez can also be viewed as long time Ramsey replacement and whether or not he can fill in his shoes will be a thing to watch.
Ramsey has been far from exemplary for the Gunners with his creativity and box-to-box midfield ing. Suarez who is also an expert in short passes and lay-offs was viewed as best replacement of Ramsey from available four of Ivan Perisic, Carrasco, Nkunku being Arsenal’s other three target.
Hopefully, we see Suarez blossom under Emery, unlike Mkhitariyan and Ozil who have been incapable of delivering when asked upon by the coach and have always yielded loss with their inconsistency. Unai Emery putting in a lot of effort in bringing Suarez in the squad makes him a prior playmaker.
Will he solve the INCONSISTENCY problem?
Arsenal have as big name players a club would want to have in their team. The agile and talented striking duo of Lacazette and Aubameyang, the midfield filled with experience, zest and skills, the defence on the back of Laurent Koscielny and mighty Greek Sokratis. Yet, the team is not winning games consistently. The real cause of this failure is their steep graph of form, sometimes best but almost dreary.
Denis Suarez has been eyed to bring in some confidence in the team in lieu of changing atmosphere and also bringing in some consistency in the dressing room. We haven’t got a player who can set the foundation of the game and if Suarez in capable in doing so, he will as good as an icing on the cake.
Can he create more Goal-Scoring Chances?
Suarez is not a sprinter with overwhelming speed who can run through the flanks with pace but is well equipped to play the role of a creative midfielder, more so an out-to-out midfielder. This time of midfielders often tend to bring more goal-scoring opportunities for the team with their game sense and accurately timed passes.
Emery will have to deploy him in a position to get the best out for the team. A position to threat opponents and aid our strikers. Lot of expectations on the shoulder of the 25-year-old playmaker. Let’s hope he carries them well.
