Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith Rowe has been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium, with Premier League side Fulham looking to bolster their squad by bringing the England international to Craven Cottage this summer.
£35m Fee Agreed: Smith Rowe to Join Fulham
The Gunners are likely to receive a record-matching selling fee of £35m as Fulham close in on signing the Hale End graduate.
Emile Smith Rowe has been highly regarded by the club and the supporters; however, the consistent injury problems have deterred his progress at the club, and he suddenly found himself at the far end.
The Arsenal number 10 is a fan favorite at the Emirates Stadium, albeit is in favor of a move away from the club as he searches for regular minutes under his belt going into the summer transfer window.
Smith Rowe Arsenal story nearing end
Arsenal played a friendly against Bournemouth earlier today as they kicked off their US Tour, and almost every player was involved for the Gunners from the traveling party except Emile-Smith Rowe.
While fans and pundits were quick to pick on it considering his links with a move to Fulham, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was quizzed about the potential move to the Cottagers, where the Spaniard confirmed that things have escalated in the background revolving around a potential exit.
Mikel Arteta said: “There are things happening in the background so we felt it was best not to use him.”
This will be an emotional moment for a lot of Arsenal fans as a boy who has been a light in the deepest darkness and a savior hailing from the Hale End will end his time at the club and move on.
Next time you see Emile Smith Rowe play, he may be donning a Fulham badge.
