We are in the latter stages of the season, and that means the heads are already on that window in the summer & so are Arsenal, with the luxury of scouting right faces from the top of the Premiership table. It is no secret that the Gunners are prioritising a move for Declan Rice, who ofcourse will come with a hefty price-tag.
But Emmanuel Frimpong, a graduate of the ever-prestigious Hale End academy, thinks they should get another English lad rather… “Mason Mount is a very good player, not world-class, but a good enough player to play for Arsenal,” Frimpong said (via FourFourTwo)
“He would bolster Arsenal’s squad, if I was in charge of Arsenal, he is the player I would like to bring in. Mount is very young, never injured, very professional and an England international. He has not been in great form but neither have Chelsea all season. You don’t win Chelsea player of the year two times in a row if you’re not a good player.
“If the money is too much, then Arsenal would have to walk away, we’re not Manchester City, we can’t spend that much money on one player.”
When Boehly brought in Joao Felix, Mount’s stock plummeted at Stamford Bridge. Mount is a fantastic player, but he is no longer needed owing to Boehly’s recent fortitude in the transfer market. Mason Mount’s current contract expires next year, and he doesn’t appear to be interested in signing a new one. This gives Arsenal a great opportunity to strengthen their team while also hurting a rival (you’d think they learned their lessons with Jorginho, lol).
Mount, to reach his full potential, needs to join a team that can commit to both regular playing time and a tailored strategy for his professional growth. Due to their large roster, it is unable to provide for any of these at the Stamford Bridge for him. Arsenal, on the other hand, can and will. He’s about to hit his stride professionally and has to stop feeling sorry for himself. If we’re being honest, he has no future with Chelsea. Perhaps, he may play for the Arsenal if he moved there.
In that Xhaka role… got me dreaming…
Signing both Declan Rice and Mason Mount would certainly be a gamble, especially after the club’s recent acquisition of Jorginho. The Gunners have had injury issues in the heart of the park this season, so it’s likely we’ll acquire at least one of these players to bolster their depth.
Arsenal’s future looks bright with Arteta at the top of it all. And Despite fielding the Premier League’s youngest average roster, we have looked like the league’s most seasoned group this season.
