First Impression: Denis Suarez vs Manchester City

Denis Suarez made his Arsenal debut in their 3-1 defeat to Manchester City at Etihad yesterday, coming on as second half substitute replacing Sead Kolasinac in the sixty-sixth minute.

Now to start with, Unai Emery was highly jeered on by Gooners on social media for not starting the Spainard although after watching his display in the short second-half span they seemed to have lost all their expectations in the man coming from Barcelona.

To be honest, after all the build-up to Denis’ transfer followed by his debut it would be foolish not to expect A’ GAME from him.

Judging him merely by his display against The Cityzens would be pretty rough on the young man. He came in when just after Arsenal conceded Sergio Aguero’s and Manchester City’s third goal plus making his Premier League debut you would expect some nerves on his part.

He did have a first bad touch in Arsenal colors which was followed by some of those before he was comfortable with the ball and organizing without it.

You need to get one thing straight though, Physicality is an aspect he has to work out somehow. You could see Suarez struggled on the physical side of English game and that is something we all were worried about, aren’t we?

Physicality is one of the key factors that is keeping Mesut Ozil off Unai Emery’s squad, Denis Suarez has to get himself accustomed to hard side of the game sooner especially after getting some slump at City.

Although, we were caught in double mind over position Denis will be playing after his admission over playing attacking midfielder which was directly contradicting Unai Emery’s suggestions over flank play. Yeah, he was seen operating mainly on the right flanks with freedom to get central (when needed).

This was a difficult occasion to make his debut, although it looks like his honeymoon period at North London might just be cut short with fans highly demanding from the Spainard.
