Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes made his national debut in Saturday’s game against Bolivia. Brazil won the game 5-1 but the centre-back picked up a knock that had the Gunners fans hanging with their hearts out.
However, the fear of Arsenal fans eased up a little as Gabriel was seen training on Sunday. The centre-back had managed to play for 85 minutes before picking up an injury. The defender was seen limping off the pitch and applying ice-pack after the game.
Arsenal are already lacking the services of Jurien Timber and Thomas Partey due to injury and Gabriel’s knock almost gave them their hearts in the mouth. Arteta would be relieved to see Gabriel back practising as he prepares for a busy week up ahead with matches against Everton, PSV Eindhoven and arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
According to Globo Esporte, Gabriel underwent scans straight after the game and no scans were detected. The centre-back is now expected to represent Brazil for his 2nd national game against Peru, to be played on Wednesday.
Gabriel is a near-permanent starter for Arsenal and his health is as important for the club who have been dependent on his presence. The Brazilian came off the bench in the first two games for Arsenal and was left unused in the third.
Lack of time gained attraction from the Saudi League, however, Thomas Partey’s injury assured the defender with a place in the starting eleven alongside William Saliba in the heart of the defence.
