Arsenal made a statement when they brought in Brazilian wonder-kid in Gabriel Martinelli, their trust in youth and how Unai Emery is continuing with the culture Arsene Wenger left the club.
Gabriel was Arsenal’s first summer arrival, joining from Brazilian outfit Ituano in a deal worth £6 million.
It was not long before the Gooners got glimpses of wha the young Brazilian was capable of…
Martinelli was included in Arsenal’s flight to United States for the pre-season where Martinelli marked his debut with a goal in 3-0 win over Colorado Rapids. His performances were enough to earn him Premier League debut as Unai Emery brought on Martinelli in Arsenal’s opening fixture against Newcastle United at St. James Park.
And Gabriel has opened up about his relationship with Unai Emery and Edu, and how they are helping him settle into his life in London.
“The coach is a great person, and I’m learning a lot from him on a daily basis,” Martinelli told Lance – as per Sport Witness. “I try to do my best in training so that, when I have the opportunity, to grasp it with everything.
“Edu is an exceptional guy, a great professional, victorious and who made history with the Arsenal shirt.
“We talked a lot when I arrived and, undoubtedly, having a person like him around motivates us more and more.
“I was received in the best way possible. Being very young, I got a little shy, because I only saw these players on television, on video games.
“But they welcomed me very well, making me feel at home and I try to learn from them on a daily basis.”
Gabriel Marinelli alongside the likes of Reiss Nelson, Emile Smith-Rowe and Bukayo Saka will have a reasonable chance to impress following the departure of Henrikh Mkhitaryan on loan to AS Roma earlier this week.
Talking about Gabriel per se, he is not only listed as a first-team player on Arsenal’s official website but is also included in Europa League’s squad which suggests we would see a lot of the Brazilian as the season progresses.
