Arsenal would fancy giving a beautiful end to an underwhelming season. Having finished fifth in the Premier League and making it inevitable for themselves to miss the Champions League, this is the first time Arsenal would thank UEFA, also the last for allowing the winners of Europa League to play in Champions Trophy.
Arsenal would have to put in their best team and most talented XI to give them an edge over Chelsea who already are a step ahead of us, having already qualified for Champions League. Here’s a bare view on what I feel will be Arsenal’s best XI.
The most likely and preferred position to start will be Emery’s patent 3-4-1-2.
The goalkeeping position, however, is more flummoxed than the other 10. Who will it be? The in-form and robust Bernd Leno or will it be the enchanting Petr Cech who has aplenty experience on his shoulders. I feel Petr Cech it will be, come what may.
In the defence we don’t have ample options. Sokratis, Koscielny and Monreal are our best 3. The other option we have is Mustafi, error-prone Mustafi who can’t be relied upon. All the three will hold centre of defence, Koscielny being in the centre.
In the midfield we may say, Kolasinac and Maitland-Niles with more of a defensive role, the former being on the left and latter on the right. And in the centre it will be Xhaka sharing hands with Torreira to accompany and work as a link between defence and midfield.
Now, the attacking third that leaves us with three of our best players. The strikers are fixed, Aubameyang and Lacazette who in no havens would be changed slash altered. Their bromance holds the key for our victory so does their form in Europa League.
The number 10 position is now vacant and with Mkhitariyan not eligible to play, Ramsey out with injury, Mesut Ozil is our best guy to bid for who also knows the ways of bringing glory home.
In addition to our line-up, the want for a silverware will also bring the best out of our players which I feel is a good boost going in the finals.
