INSIGHT: Why should Arsenal re-sign Olivier Giroud?

Chelsea are eyeing on a loan for former Juventus star and Argentine international Gonzalo Higuaín which makes pretty certain that their diet for Giroud is ending. The Frenchman’s contract is set to end this season and considering his age , the striker will be released by the Blues. Giroud has been sharing the role of striker with Alvaro Morata and with Higuain coming into the Blues squad, a third striker is unnecessary.

The veteran striker has been linked with a move to Barcelona. His experience, goal-scoring abilities and physique is in all way a great backup option for Luis Suarez. Although, it may not be a long-term substitute, Giroud will surely provide the Blaugrana’s a much-needed depth in the offensive background.

The reports of Giroud going to Spain are considerate one’s but the Frenchman who is a Gunner-hearted will not want to leave London if his former clubs sign him in.

And Maybe, it is the right time to bring the Frenchman back home. Arsenal do have two world class forwards in Lacazette and Aubameyang who have the ability and talent to turn the match on their head. With Danny Welback serving a long-term injury and his contract expiring as early as end of this season, Arsenal will not want to depend on the 19-year-old Nketiah as their third striker albeit his talent and hard-work he puts in. You can’t turn on the youngster for big games.

Why should Giroud re-sign?

The striker has not been as effective in Blue shirt as he had been for the Gunners and with his contract expiring in the end of this season, we can expect a return home. The striker bleeds and honours the Red shirt with utmost respect and seems to spend his years of night in Emirates. This move will also be beneficial for Arsenal and Nketiah – let alone Olivier Giroud.

How?

The experience of Giroud will help the youngster to polish his qualities, brush his skills and enhance his potential. The two year or so that Giroud has left in him will be worthy for the Gunners to compete for big games and trophies, along with helping Nketiah. Surely in an year or so will the mantle be passed to this young talent and to teach him well; no other than Olivier Giroud with tons of experience in the Premier League.

Apart from the coaching sphere, is Giroud beneficial in any other way?

Think of Stephan Lichtsteiner, the Swiss international is 35-year-old but does he look like one while playing for the Gunners. Does he? Not at all. The Swiss right-back thumps his heart out, bleeds his body for the team and looks way beyond an old-timer.

Everyone knows, How Oli can be the perfect ‘PLAN B’. This guy has always given 1000% donning the Arsenal badge and I think we can bring him back as we did Titi.

The time has come for Olivier to be back HOME.
