The Gunners are lining up a move to sign highly rated defender Riccardo Calafiori this week, and the Italian international is expected to play in the left-back position on the current roster. This means Arteta would have one option too many in the position with Jurrien Timber, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Kieran Tierney, Riccardo Calafiori, and Jakub Kiwior.

Once the acquisition of Calafiori is concluded, the Gunners are expected to sell a couple of players from the surplus in the left-back role. Kieran Tierney is expected to leave this summer, and one of Zinchenko and Kiwior could accompany him out the door at London Colney.

Kiwior has been underrated at Arsenal, in my opinion. In the games where he played in the left-back role last season, we won 14 out of 15 games while drawing one against Manchester City at the Etihad. He provided defensive stability in the position, and many Arsenal fans don’t see what he brings to the table.

Now, he is looking to go back to familiar ground as the Gunners sign Calafiori. And Kiwior has rejected the prospects of joining Bologna, Calafiori’s current employers.

Italian champions Inter Milan are now looking to sign Jakub Kiwior this summer and are willing to offer a loan with the option to buy the Polish international.

At the moment, it is more likely that the Gunners would prefer a permanent sale than a loan deal with any concurrent options.

We will see how this proceeds going into the upcoming weeks, but it is highly likely that Jakub Kiwior may leave Arsenal this summer in the aftermath of Calafiori’s arrival.
