Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior has been speculated with a move away from the Emirates Stadium this summer, as he finds himself in the middle of nowhere following the arrival of Riccardo Calafiori earlier this window.
The Polish international has been struggling to find regular game time under his belt since making a move to the Gunners from Spezia. And his involvement with the club gets trickier with Calafiori taking up his spot at London Colney.
Kiwior is primarily a left-sided central defender who can also feature in the left-back role, and the Italian is expected to play a similar role under Mikel Arteta at Arsenal.
Arsenal’s defensive options leave Jakub Kiwior on the fringe
With the left centre-back position secured by Gabriel Magalhaes and the Gunners now having a plethora of options in the left-back role, the involvement of Kiwior gets touch and go. Oleksandr Zinchenko, Riccardo Calafiori, Jurrien Timber, and Takehiro Tomiyasu can all feature in the left-back role. This prompts Kiwior to be linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium, with Italian giants Bologna ready to take the 24-year-old on loan with an option to buy, as per reports by Gianluca di Marzio.
Many assumed that the Gunners would move on from Oleksandr Zinchenko following the arrival of the Italian international. However, the former Manchester City defender has come into the season with renewed energy and a grind to win back his place in Mikel Arteta’s eleven. Though it is expected that either Jurrien Timber or Riccardo Calafiori will take Zinny’s place in the squad once they get up to speed.

Kiwior’s involvement later today, when the Gunners face Aston Villa, should give us a further glimpse of his potential exit this summer.
While the Gunners also offered him in the original deal to send the player to Bologna in a cash-plus-player swap deal to bring Calafiori to North London, Kiwior wasn’t keen on moving to Bologna at the time but has changed his mind since.
Jakub is also being pursued by Fiorentina; however, Bologna looks like a more likelier destination at the moment.
