Mikel Arteta provides an injury update on Jurrien Timber after facing a scary injury against Brighton

Jurrien-Timber-Injury-Update

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided a key update on Jurrien Timber after he was substituted for struggling with an injury against Brighton and Hove Albion on August 31st.

The 23-year-old is determined to stamp his authority at the Emirates Stadium this season after missing out on his premier campaign with an ACL injury as soon as he joined the Gunners in July 2023 and returned by late April this year.

Since then, the former Ajax star has recovered well and featured in all the preseason games and has been a consistent presence in the starting XI for all three Premier League games as well.

However, he was replaced by Oleksandr Zinchenko in the second half against the Seagulls after a suspected injury issue. Arteta was asked about the player’s status after the match, and he said:

He was cramping. He got a kick in the first half and then was cramping so we had to take him off. I don’t think the injury is scary.”

We expect the Dutch defender to return for the Gunners’ next clash against Tottenh*m Hotsp*r on the 15th of September.

Timber has been running the show on the left side of defence, and his contributions will be crucial in the North London derby. Arsenal are already without Declan Rice for this clash.

The English midfielder was handed a controversial second yellow card for time-wasting after he cleared a ball just before a Brighton free-kick. Joao Pedro scored the equaliser later on to snatch two points from the home side.

Arteta wasn’t happy with the decision. As per the Spaniard, it would have been a non-objective decision had the referee shown a card to Pedro for kicking the ball away before an Arsenal throw-in during the first half.
