Havertz-Muller-Comparison

Arsenal ace Kai Havertz has made a big impression on pundits Alan Shearer and Micah Richards, who have praised him for transforming into an impressive player this season.

The 25-year-old has found his footing at the Emirates and has embraced the new role given to him by manager Mikel Arteta.

For instance, the German had his best goalscoring season (17 goals) with Bayer Leverkusen in the 2018/19 campaign. He is yet to repeat the same feat, with his best term at Chelsea yielding just eight goals.

But the star player has improved his numbers since joining Arsenal. He scored 13 goals in 37 appearances operating as a midfielder in the 2023/24 season.

Havertz has now stepped up to another level since playing as a striker this season. He has pocketed six goals in ten games in all competitions, and it seems that he is absolutely enjoying his new role in the team.

HAVERTZ ‘FOUND HIS HOME’ AT ARSENAL

After the game, Premier League’s record goal scorer Shearer applauded Havertz for being a’real centre-forward’ who is contributing everywhere on the field. Speaking on the Rest Is Football podcast, the Newcastle United legend said:

I think he’s really impressing me in terms of his performances and goals. He’s become a real centre-forward, not just with his scoring but with his hold-up play, how he brings teammates into the game, and how he challenges defenders in the air—even when he knows he might not win. I’ve been really impressed with him this season.

Former Manchester City defender Richards agreed with these sentiments, praising the German for his quick adaptability upfront. He said: “The good thing about Havertz is his adaptability. At first, people were scratching their heads, wondering where he’d fit in or what his best position was. But now he’s found his role.”

Let’s not forget, this is a player who scored in a Champions League final and is a German international. He had a tough time at Chelsea, but now he’s found his home at Arsenal, and he’s delivering.”

Havertz has found a knack of scoring the opening goal for his side; he has broken the deadlock in four instances out of six. He did it once again vs. Southampton when the nerves were beginning to jangle around the Emirates.

This makes it seven goals in a row for the prolific striker at the Emirates. The German is a clutch player, turning out in big games and bringing a touch of elegance to his performances.
