Mikel Arteta has committed his long-term future to Arsenal by signing a new contract that runs until 2027, plus an option to extend it for an additional year.

The Spanish manager’s current deal ends next summer, and last month he added that all parties will come to a solution only when the transfer window ends.

But the North London outfit has finally put an end to the speculations by agreeing on a three-year extension. He will receive a huge increment on his current £9 million per year salary.

The update comes at a perfect time for Arsenal as they face local rivals Tottenh*m Hotsp*r this week. Arteta has played a huge role in the club’s rise to dominance in the Premier League and the European competitions.

From making his debut as a star midfielder under Arsene Wenger in 2011 to taking over the managerial reigns from Unai Emery in 2019, he has come a long way.

Arteta was all smiles while signing the new contract alongside sporting director Edu Gaspar and co-chairman Josh Kroenke. While talking to the club, he said:

I feel extremely proud, very excited, and am looking forward to what is coming next. I’m proud to be where I am and have the relationships that I have with everyone at the club.”

“I feel extremely lucky to work every single day with good people and the ambition we have here. I feel very inspired, I feel challenged, I feel supported, and I want to do much more than what we’ve already done together.”
