Marcelo Bielsa explains Nketiah’s lack of game time

There has been plenty of talks about Eddie Nketiah and his lack of game time under Marcelo Bielsa not only among the Arsenal faithful but also among Leeds supporters.

Eddie joined Leeds United on a season long-loan from Arsenal in the summer and has struggled for ‘much valuable’ game time under Bielsa and also is yet to start for Leeds despite notching up four goals off-the-bench, two in Championship and two in Carabao Cup.

Bielsa prefers Patrick Bamford up front and is quizzed over lack of minutes to Eddie on frequent basis, and so was the case again in his pre-match press conference against Charlton Athletic.

Speaking to Leeds Live , Bielsa said: “Patrick gives things to the team Eddie can also give. Patrick is a goalscorer, Eddie as well. Their difference in style is not too big because both of them can fill the position with the same efficiency.

“Patrick’s initial advantage over Eddie is he has more time with us, more experience and he is older than Eddie. What you are talking about, this polemic, is one of the things supporters like and the press like as well. If Bamford doesn’t play, you will ask why Nketiah does play, and if they both play you ask why Klich or Forshaw doesn’t play.

“It’s difficult to answer this polemic. This talk about different situations and that is fair and is nice. Sometimes, the reality offers space for this polemic. Sometimes this polemic is over the reality. What nobody can complain about is the winning.”

There have been talks in papers over Arsenal looking to call back Eddie Nketiah in January due to lack of game time at Leeds.

ARSENALCORE’s VIEW:

Eddie went against Unai Emery’s wishes to join Leeds in the summer for getting more minutes under his belt. Although that hasn’t been the case as of now. And with all the papers linking him to cut short his loan at Elland Road but knowing Unai and his obsession over working hard, he would certainly like Nketiah to prove himself at Leeds before bringing him back to N5.
