Mesut Ozil’s future at Arsenal is under grey clouds after Arsenal effectively giving up hope on him signing a new deal according to various news sources.
The defeat against Watford was really a frustrating one for Arsene Wenger and Co and several criticisms are coming from different corners after that shock defeat.
Ozil missed a clear chance in front of Goal in the match against Watford and this had leaded towards several talking points of his future at Arsenal.
“It’s such an incredibly bad finish from Ozil. Fascinating how such a gifted player can be so poor in front of goal.”, one of the Arsenal’s fan club twitted. Some sources are saying that Özil’s lack of intensity & enthusiasm has privately infuriated the Arsenal dressing room.
Robert Pires, who still trains with the Arsenal’s first team had said that Ozil is not happy with the summer transfer activity of Arsenal this season and because of that he is annoyed. This could lead to his departure next transfer window from Arsenal.
“Ozil is a warrior who wants to win something. To me, he seems so angry about the fact that Arsenal hasn’t put together the team with which he can make a difference. Arsenal has spent money only for Alexandre Lacazette, €53 million. That is not enough to be at the top.” , Pires told.
Here let’s have a look at Arsenal’s summer transfer activity this season,
The Players who were included :
Alexandre Lacazette (£47m from Lyon), Sead Kolasinac (Free from Schalke)
The Players who were Excluded :
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (£40m to Liverpool), Wojciech Szczęsny (£11m to Juventus), Gabriel (£10m to Valencia), Yaya Sanogo (Free to Toulouse), Carl Jenkinson (Loan to Birmingham), Cohen Bramall (Loan to Birmingham), Emiliano Martinez (Loan to Getafe)
Mesut Ozil is strongly linked with Manchester United and Jose Mourinho wants him in Manchester United.
“Mesut Ozil is available on the cheap in January, with Manchester United wanting his services.” , the sources are telling.
Wenger is also not confident about Ozil staying at Arsenal after the next transfer window.
“Once you’re in our kind of situation, you envisage every solution, yes. It’s possible. I always said that the fact we didn’t sign an agreement [with Sanchez and Ozil in the summer] doesn’t mean that the player will leave—because both players look happy here. Overall I hope the situation can be turned around.”, Wenger told few days ago.
But there’s some good news also for Arsenal fans as despite uncertain futures the superstars remain fully committed to the club.
“Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil are committed to Arsenal despite their uncertain futures.” , Per Mertesacker said before the match against Red Star Belgrade in Europa League.
Now it’s all up to Mesut Ozil as he can only answer whether he will stay or leave Arsenal next transfer window.
But one thing is very clear that all eyes of Arsenal fans will surely monitor his situation in January.
