Arsenal monitoring exciting Egyptian forward

Omar-Marmoush-Arsenal

Arsenal are reportedly monitoring exciting Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush, who plays for Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga.

Arsenal scouts were reportedly in attendance at the weekend to watch Omar Marmoush, as revealed by Arsenal Fanatics News on their Pateron. Frankfurt took on Braunschweig in the DFB Pokal, comfortably winning 4-1 at the Eintracht Stadion. The 25-year-old impressed, assisting two goals from the left wing.

Marmoush primarily plays as a striker but is capable of playing on both wings. Frankfurt head coach Dino Toppmöller described the forward as a player who “works extremely hard and is hard to defend against,”

The Gunners are not the only club interested in Marmoush, with Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool also keen on the forward. The 25-year-old won’t come cheap, with Frankfurt demanding a minimum of £43 million for their star player, who was allegedly brought to Mikel Arteta’s attention by Mohamed Elneny last season. Marmoush is said to be open to a move to the Emirates Stadium, with his salary demands not being a problem for the club.

The forward came through the youth ranks of Wadi Degla, making his senior debut for the Egyptian club in 2016 as a teenager. He moved to Vfl Wolfsburg a year later, initially playing with their reverse team. The 25-year-old enjoyed two successful loan spells to fellow German sides St. Pauli and Vfb Stuttgart before cementing his place in the Wolfsburg starting 11.

Ahead of the 2023-24 season, Frankfurt announced the signing of Marmoush, who was a free agent after departing Wolfsburg at the end of his contract. The forward enjoyed a stellar debut season with Die Adler, scoring 17 goals and assisting six in 41 appearances across all competitions. Marmoush has also represented Egypt on the international stages, having made 31 appearances for the African side.

While the Gunners have been in search of a striker this entire summer, rumours have quietened down recently with Arteta seemingly happy with Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus. If the manager does decide to make a move for Marmoush, he will have to do it soon with the transfer window closing in just under ten days.
