Arsenal has completed most of their transfer activity this summer and are ready to rock and roll in the new Premier League season.
With two permanent additions in Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino, they have assembled a strong starting XI. But even after their movements in the ongoing transfer window look frozen, a few players have continued to be linked with the Gunners.
It is obvious that they need backup options in the striker and left-winger positions. Napoli’s Victor Osimhen was seen as a top target, but there was no concrete basis to the rumours.
Would Arsenal make a late swoop for Barcelona winger Raphinha?
It was earlier claimed that Barcelona winger Raphinha could join the North London side this summer.
But, as per Charles Watts, the Brazilian winger wishes to stay at Camp Nou amid rumours that he might be sold to interested clubs.
“As far as I know, he doesn’t really want to leave, and obviously he’s still getting minutes there, so it’s not like he’s being forced out. Also one of the sort of reasons they were not looking to lose him, but happy to lose him would be so they could register Dani Olmo – I know different positions – but just in squad space. But then someone got injured, I think it was Andreas Christensen, so they’ve managed to register Olmo anyway.”
The 27-year-old has chances to gain regular minutes, and he has not been forced to leave. The La Liga side were facing issues registering new signing Dani Olmo a few weeks ago.

It was during that time that Arsenal were linked with the former Leicester City star. But now, Andreas Christensen’s injury will allow them to register the Spanish international ahead of the new season.
Hence, it is highly unlikely for the Barca ace to move to the London Colney by Friday midnight. Another La Liga star, Nico Williams, was a top target for Mikel Arteta’s side earlier this summer.
But the player opted to extend his stay at Atletic Bilbao. The fans would want the club to bring in a world-class attacking option to compete with their very own Bukayo Saka.
Eddie Nketiah’s Crystal Palace move further shows the importance of having more alternatives upfront.
