Jean Michael Seri was linked to the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona before securing his future with Fulham.
Many eyebrows were raised when Fulham announced the capture of Seri, and it totally remains a bargain for recently promoted South West London based club. Though he did cost something around £30million, he would form an integral part of Fulham’s squad.
European football expert Gabriele Marcotti claims Seri’s lack of physicality restricted teams from recruiting him. And that is probably why Arsenal did not sign the 26-year-old.
“Well you’re talking about a central midfielder who not that long ago was linked to Arsenal, to Juventus, to Barcelona,” he told ESPN FC.
“I think he does have very good agents.
“But I think a lot of clubs were reluctant simply because of his size, because of a perceived lack of physicality.
“In that sense he remains a very good player and if the price is right and the terms are right, then it’s a solid deal for Fulham.”
Arsenal have signed Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria instead, and the Uruguay International comes in with a solid World Cup performance. Torreira would have cost Arsenal around £26million.
