Arsenal loanee Reiss Nelson was on target for new club Fulham as they secured a 3-0 win against Newcastle United.
The Cottagers played impressive football and didn’t give the visitors any time to breathe throughout the contest. They went ahead through Raul Jimenez’s superb strike before former Gooner Emile Smith-Rowe doubled the lead. The youngster and former Arsenal star Alex Iwobi were dynamic, combining well on numerous occasions. Their first chance came when Iwobi provided a sublime pass and Smith-Rowe’s shot rattled the crossbar.

They were again involved in the attack as Iwobi played a one-two with the midfielder, and the latter hit a shot through Burn’s legs and past Magpies keeper Nick Pope. It extended their lead to 2-0 within 25 minutes of play.
Reiss Nelson scored the winner in the dying stages of the game after pouncing on a mistake by Bruno Guimaraes. Former Arsenal keeper Bernd Leno was also in action for Fulham, and he produced some decent saves as well.

Smith-Rowe has now scored two goals and provided one assist in five games since moving to the Craven Cottage on a permanent deal this summer. His first goal came against Leicester City in the Premier League.

Some even pointed out that leaving Smith-Rowe was a mistake since he could have been a valuable backup for the injured Martin Odeegard. But it was necessary for him to depart for the sake of his career since Mikel Merino’s arrival further pushed him down the pecking order.
Meanwhile, Reiss Nelson struggled to get regular minutes since Mikel Arteta went after Chelsea star Raheem Sterling (also signed on loan). The 24-year-old has an excellent opportunity to make a name for himself with the Magpies. This is turning out to be a fantastic loan deal.
If he does well, Mikel Arteta might keep him in his plans next summer, or the club could sell him for instant profit.
