Manchester City lynchpin Rodri has named Arsenal duo Declan Rice and Jorginho as two of his favourite midfielders in world football.
The 28-year-old has been central to the Citizen’s success in lifting four consecutive Premier League titles, breaking Man United’s decade-long record.
Ever since moving from Atletico Madrid, Rodri is a regular in Pep Guardiola’s starting XI. He is one of the reasons the reigning champions have been able to keep Arsenal at bay from the last two seasons.

The Gunners solidified their core as well, bringing in experienced world-class players. Their midfield battle with Pep Guardiola’s side is worth watching as we move into another electrifying PL season.
Rodri recently revealed that he admires Arsenal defensive midfielders Rice and Jorginho for their style of play. Speaking to ESPN, he said:
“If you ask me names I think I would be not fair because I will leave some ones that deserve, but I don’t know. Let’s say right now, Declan I like a lot, what he does, even though he’s not the same role I do.”
“I love Jorginho, when he was in the best shape. Who else? In the past for example, I always said Busquets, Casemiro, Xabi Alonso, these kind of players that they can manage the game.”

Arsenal have one of the best midfield line-up in the Premier League
Rice started his career as a defensive midfielder like the Man City ace. But he slowly evolved himself as a box-to-box player at Arsenal, with Jorginho and Thomas Partey staying deep and providing more security as No. 6.
The 25-year-old’s physicality and Jorginho’s intelligence have revolutionised the Gooner’s worn-out midfield. They have added Real Sociedad star Mikel Merino to their roster, further adding experience and helping Rice move into a more advanced position upfront.
The former West Ham ace and his admirer, Rodri, were shortlisted for the 2024 Ballon d’Or award. It shows the value they bring to their respective clubs.

Rice and Merino are absent for Arsenal’s clash against Spurs this weekend, and Mikel Arteta will hope that the other players step up in their absence.
