Albert Sambi Lokonga looks set to leave Arsenal permanently this summer, with reports indicating that Hamburg are in advanced talks to secure his signature.
Arsenal ready to sell Sambi Lokonga
Lokonga arrived at Arsenal from Anderlecht in 2021, highly rated as a progressive midfielder with technical quality. However, opportunities have been limited under Mikel Arteta, and he has struggled to carve out a consistent role in the first team. Loans to Crystal Palace and Luton Town offered him game time in the Premier League, but Arsenal have now decided that a permanent transfer is the best solution for both parties.
With his contract running down and no clear pathway into Arteta’s midfield rotation, particularly after the arrival Martin Zubimendi, Lokonga’s departure is seen as inevitable.
Hamburg talks at advanced stage for Albert Sambi Lokonga
Negotiations with Hamburg are said to be progressing well, with the Bundesliga club keen to add Lokonga’s experience and composure in possession to their squad. Arsenal are hopeful of finalising the deal swiftly, as they look to trim the squad before the transfer deadline and generate funds for further additions.
If all goes to plan, Lokonga could be officially unveiled as a Hamburg player in the coming days, ending his four-year stay in North London.
