Arsenal have done their homework in the pursuit of 21-year-old Bundesliga ace next summer

Benjamin-Sesko-Arsenal

Premier League juggernauts Arsenal could rekindle their interest in RB Leipzig’s star striker Benjamin Sesko next summer, as per Charles Watts on CaughtOffside.

The 6’5 Slovenian international has been a long-term target for the Gunners, and they went close to signing him in the latest summer transfer window.

However, the player opted to extend his stay at the Red Bull Arena until 2029. He wanted to continue his development there, and this decision is reaping the good fruit for him.

Sesko has scored six goals and provided three assists in nine appearances across all competitions. His brace against Juventus caught the eye of his suitors, particularly Arsenal, who are now aiming to lure the forward to the Emirates next summer.

The Gunners are planning to revisit the deal as they continue their hunt for a killer striker. It is said that no bridges were burnt between the player and the English club in terms of a potential future move.

Director Edu Gaspar did a lot of groundwork behind the scenes and their study will now help them to start afresh. Sesko opted to stay at the German club due to their greater appeal for developing starters into world-class players.

Arsenal have decided to trust Kai Havertz as their key No. 9 this campaign. The 25yo hasn’t disappointed with four goals and two assists in 10 appearances.

But they need to find an ideal replacement for Gabriel Jesus, who has failed to live up to the expectations since moving from Manchester City. 19 goals in 77 games is not a healthy return, and they need a lethal goal scorer to reduce the burden on Havertz.

Sesko could be used as an understudy to the German ace before getting regular minutes. He could be the final puzzle of their star-studded attacking lineup.

The 21-year-old is tailor-made for the role and has the right profile to play under Mikel Arteta. The Leipzig star earlier had a €65 million release clause, but that was scrapped off as part of the new deal.

As per Italian journalist Marco Guidi, the North London outfit would need to splash up to €80m to get their desired target. It is said that the player has a gentleman’s agreement with the Bundesliga side, which allows him to leave for an optimal price in 2025.
