And together, Hazard and Giroud kicked us out of the Champions League courtesy their stellar Europa League performance in the finals. We needed a win to book a Champions League berth and also a silverware for the Emirates which was declined by former Gunner, Giroud.
The Frenchman took us out scoring the first goal of the night, thus taking the game away from us. After his headed goal it was just a matter of time that our faulty defense started to crumble. The Blues won the finals convincingly with a scoreline of 4-1 which by the convention of Europa League is huge. Giroud also won the penalty for Chelsea in the second half that had sealed the game away from us.
More than the players, the fans particularly were devastated and left out their emotions on Giroud who did nothing but play for his present team. Giroud got the perfect revenge for being sold last January.
11 – Olivier Giroud is the first player to score 11 goals in major European competition for an English club since Alan Shearer scored 11 in 2004-05 for Newcastle United. Lead. #UELfinal #CHEARS pic.twitter.com/S4587zwXYH

His performance left many Gooners angry on Wenger’s decision to detach him.
“That Giroud goal hurt,” one fan wrote. “Not long ago he was banging them for Arsenal”.
“Anyone but Giroud, I didn’t even want him to leave, he was pure Arsenal,” another Gunners supporter added.
One fan commented “that’s why it’s sad when he left Arsenal” and questioned “remind me again why Arsenal let Giroud leave?”.
While there were many who felt the curse of selling Giroud had haunted the team more than the player himself.
“Knew selling Giroud to Arsenal would come back to haunt us. Had to be Europa Final!” another added.
Chelsea have had Arsenal’s pants down with Giroud. Could be the winner here!

If that is the goal that means we lose this final…. I will never forgive Wenger for selling Giroud…. never wanted him to leave in the first place

Giroud just had to be the one to score 🤦🏽♂️

It had to be Giroud scoring an absolute banger as well. Had to be.

Why did we ever sell giroud
— Paschal Connell (@paschal89) May 29, 2019
We are literally falling to pieces, I was so positive about this game and been let down by the team. Giroud showing us why we should have kept him.

I have seen Adebayor scoring against us and running to the other half of the pitch to provoke our fans, van Persie scoring against us and getting the guard of honour, so if you think this Giroud’s goal hurts me then you’re absolutely right

The tale of Arsenal and Champions League waits for yet another season. The Gunners will have to see Giroud perform for the Blues at the expense of their defeat. A haunted experience now extends to one more season.
