Alexandre Lacazette is Atlético’s most anticipated player of the upcoming summer and as per reports by Spanish news outlet AS – Arsenal would welcome Lacazette-Lemar barter.
Atlético have expressed interest in Lacazette since his time at Lyon, and could use someone Lemar as the bargaining chip to get the striker.
Lacazette will turn twenty-nine next week and AS claims the Gunners are ‘ already hearing possible offers’ for the Frenchman.
Former Lyon star is said to be ‘very liked’ by the Diego Simeone, and the Reds from Madrid are ‘attentive’ to any possibilities given Lacazette’s future at Arsenal is unclear.
Atlético are not going through a buoyant economic situation despite the current crisis, but the executives know the the Gunners will have some financial difficulties cometh the summer and one of the formulas is to try to negotiate with Los Rojiblancos is a barter.
Arsenal were keen to splash the cash on Thomas Lemar as Mikel Arteta eyed fresh faces up-wide in January. The Gunners were ‘close’ to signing the French international from Atlético Madrid & the North-London side could set sights on the French winger yet again in the summer.
The 24-year-old struggling to find his feet running since arriving in Spanish capital in a deal believed to be worth around £63m, from Monaco in 2018. Lemar has managed only three goals & six assists in 67 appearances for Diego Simone’s side. He is NOT scored a goal in over a year!
The air of uncertainty revolving around Aubameyang’s future at Arsenal and the absence of an experienced winger at bench has led to increased interest in Atletico Madrid’s winger who was once chased in 2017 by Arsene Wenger but a change in management led to no deal.
ARSENALCORE’s OPINION:
For me, Thomas Lemar is a double-edged sword; a risk that Arsenal should not take. The Gunners have a plethora of talent on the bench albeit young who just need proper guidance and game time to develop into a senior level player.
Getting Thomas Lemar could be a risky business in a lot of ways. The Frenchman without any doubt is a talented winger but with a level of consistency similar to that of an amateur.
The 24-year-old has not been a regular for Diego Simeone’s squad and has struggled for the Madrid squad ever since he has joined the club. The winger has been finding it difficult to get the ball past opposition’s goalkeeper or produce an assist.
The Frenchman hasn’t been able to develop his game and adapt to life at Spain under Simeone. And the youngster is often plagued with injury which keeps him out for a period. Something Arsenal would not want from a player they would spend huge sum on.
Thomas Lemar with all his skills and talent is a perfect match for Arsenal but a risk with negative returns. The Frenchman will find it difficult to adopt to the English conditions and make an impact at Emirates. Therefore, Arteta should not spend profoundly on him and rather try and bring in an experienced defender.
