Injuries take up the headlines for the upcoming North London Derby as Arsenal visit Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend following a disappointing list of players draughted to miss the fixture.
The Gunners will miss Declan Rice after he picked up a red card for Veltman kicking the Englishman against Brighton before the international break. It was a moment of madness from Chris Kavanagh, but it’s okay; we will suffer from refs mistakes yet again.
And the international break was not as soothing as well, with skipper Martin Odegaard picking up an ankle injury that should keep him on the sidelines for a while. Mikel Merino, who was brought in for this exact situation, will continue to keep his arms in shoulder sling after he picked up a shoulder injury in his initial training session as an Arsenal player.
Tottenham injury updates vs Arsenal
While Arsenal suffer with injury problems, Tottenham and Ange Postecoglou are blessed with the return of Micky van de Ven and Dominic Solanke, both of whom missed Spurs last game against Newcastle United.
Speaking in his press conference ahead of Sunday’s North London Derby, Ange said: ‘Micky’s good, he’s trained all the way through the international break and it was good for him to stay with us to build him back up so he’s ready to go.
‘Dom’s improved as well and trained the back half of this week. We still have two days to go with those guys so hopefully they get through training OK and are available.’
Tottenham Hotspur are expected to take a late call on Yves Bissouma, who picked up an injury with Mali in the international break. Spurs boss speaking about Yves said: ‘He’s got a bit of an issue, but we’ll have a look at him over the next couple of days and see how it settles.’
Arsenal have a little injury boost of their own in all these woes, as Gabriel Jesus is expected to return from a groin injury while deadline-day arrival Raheem Sterling is expected to make his Gunners debut this Sunday.
