Pundit backs Arsenal to walk away with all three points against Leicester City

Arsenal-UCL-Draws

Pundit Paul Merson is confident that Arsenal will streamroll Leicester City in their next Premier League clash on Saturday.

Mikel Arteta’s men were stunned at the last minute of the game against Manchester City as John Stones scored a heartbreaking equaliser. Although they were looking to secure a win at the Etihad last week, they were forced to leave with only a single point.

They face the Foxes tomorrow, a club against whom they have a brilliant record. Hence, they are expected to put up a dominant show once again.

Meanwhile, Steve Cooper’s team is struggling to hold their ground in the English league, managing just three points in five games.

Pundit Merson has predicted an easy 3-0 win for the North London outfit. He also claims that the Gooners need to be solid at the back if they want to achieve success at the end of the season. Writing in his column on Sportskeeda, he said:

I’m backing Arsenal to get a comfortable win here against Leicester. Some Leicester fans wanted to come to the top flight and be in the top half of the table, that just makes me laugh. They’re in big trouble and so is Steve Cooper.”

“From now until the end of the season, Arsenal should not let in more than one goal in any football match, that should be their aim. They’re always going to score goals, that’s not an issue. If they keep it tight at the back, they have a chance of winning something.”

Mikel Arteta is expected to field a similar lineup vs Leicester. Leandro Trossard is back from suspension and might partner Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli upfront. Saka could become the first player to assist a goal in the club’s first six games in the PL.

The odds favour Arsenal as the majority of the stats fall in their basket. They have not lost a home game against a newly promoted side since November 2010, last losing to Newcastle United. They have won 72 of their last 150 games against the Foxes.

They have also won their last five games against the 2015-16 Premier League champions, with the men in blue last defeating them in October 2020.

Striker Jamie Vardy has been the only threat, as he has scored the most goals against the Gunners than any other team in his career (11 goals). In the pre-match conference, Arteta admitted that Cooper is a tricky manager and has caused troubles during his time at Nottingham Forest.

But looking at their current form, Leicester had to rely on a penalty shootout to defeat Walsall in the EFL Cup. Not good signs for a team who is going to face an elite opponent.

It will be a big ask from them to stage a huge upset, and hence, we believe that the Gunners won’t face any trouble in overcoming the visitors tomorrow.
