Arsenal planning to raid Bayern Munich for French speedster as Bukayo Saka replacement

Kingsley-Coman-Arsenal

Arsenal are weighing up a move for Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman this January as an ideal replacement for the injured Bukayo Saka, per Football Insider.

The French ace has emerged as the latest player being linked with a move to the N5. Saka’s unfortunate hamstring injury against Crystal Palace last week has exposed the English giant’s lack of options upfront.

With Raheem Sterling also injured, they have to rely on academy graduate Ethan Nwaneri to step into his shoes. The youngster scored a goal in yesterday’s 1-1 draw against Brighton and Hove Albion, but Arsenal’s attacking display was far less convincing.

Sources reveal that Mikel Arteta’s team is eyeing Bundesliga star Coman due to his vast experience in this position. He primarily operates as a left-winger but has performed well from the right flank as well.

His contract runs until 2027, and he signed his more recent extension three years ago. He has made 212 appearances for the Bavarian giants, lifting eight Bundesliga titles in the process.

Coman is a reliable player who has showed up in important games in the UEFA Champions League. He has also been capped 58 times by the French National Team.

However, he has featured in just six games in the German league and two in the UCL this season. He is harbouring an injury of his own, and the fans haven’t seen him work out his magic under manager Vincent Kompany.

Still, he has notched up six goal contributions in 19 games in all competitions for Bayern. There is no denying Coman’s talent and the experience he brings to the field, but Arsenal needs a risk-free player at the moment.

Getting another winger who is deemed unfit will do more harm than good. Is it worth signing the Bayern winger right now? That is another question to be asked.

The club should focus on developing Nwaneri and giving him a chance to prove his worth on the right flank. They can go for a loan deal for another star player and only make an attempt for a permanent signing once Sterling departs next summer.
