WATCH: Former Arsenal star Eddie Nketiah straight off the mark for Crystal Palace vs QPR

Eddie-Nketiah-Crystal-Palace-goal

Former Arsenal talisman Eddie Nketiah scored his first goal for new club Crystal Palace vs Queens Park Rangers in the third round of the EFL Cup.

The 25-year-old scored in the 16th minute through a clever pass from Eberechi Eze following a set-piece situation. Nketiah hit a neat right-footed shot straight to the centre of the goal and past QPR keeper Joe Walsh.

The fans were sceptical about the player’s ability to deliver as a No. 10, as the youngster played far too narrow at the Emirates. But the English ace responded well to the test by combining well with Palace star Eze.

Nketiah joined the Eagles in a £30 million deal this summer. He signed a five-year deal, becoming the club’s fifth signing in the process. The South-London born attacker fared really well under former manager Mikel Arteta, scoring 38 goals in 168 games in all competitions.

Although he was behind Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus in the pecking order, he delivered when given a chance. The fans will be pleased to see him rediscover his form back, and he is capable of delivering a lot of goals for the Premier League side this season.

Nketiah’s goal is crucial for Palace to knock QPR out and jump to the next round. The Hoops have equalised via Sam Field, but the visitors remain favourites for this tie.

The former Gooner is yet to open his goalscoring account in the PL. He linked up well with Jean Mateta vs Leicester City, as the Eagles registered a 2-2 draw last week.

The new signing will face a strong test against Manchester United in their next league clash on the 21st of September.
