Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith Rowe has been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium, and the Gunners are open to allowing the Hale End academy graduate to leave this summer as Fulham open preliminary talks with the North London club over a possible deal.
Football Insider senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke suggests that Fulham have retained their interest in Arsenal’s number 10.
Hale End hero on the move? Arsenal open to Emile Smith-Rowe exit
Mikel Arteta is willing to let some fringe players at London Colney depart this summer in order to raise funds that the Gunners can reinvest in strengthening the squad. Smith-Rowe has faced consistent injury problems since his integration into the first team, which has held his progress at the club as he has struggled for games following his exclusion from the starting eleven.
The club is willing to entertain “big offers” to let the 23-year-old depart this summer.
Emile Smith-Rowe has been at Arsenal since he was ten, and he made his professional debut for the club in 2018. He has gone on to make 115 appearances for the North Londoners since. ERS break-through season at N5 came in 2021/22, where he made 33 Premier League appearances, scoring ten goals and providing two assists in the process.
However, injuries have held off his progress, and now Arsenal are willing to fill his number 10 position this summer.
Creative shakeup
Fulham have been playing some exceptional positional football under Marco Silva, and signing a creative profile of Smith-Rowe’s ability would be a massive coup for the Cottagers.
With the clubs holding initial discussions, the deal can compound in no time if both sides are willing to find common terms on the transfer fee side of things.
Alongside Fulham, Crystal Palace are also interested in landing Emile Smith-Rowe. Arsenal could leverage the 23-year-old in a bid to sign Eberechi Eze.
