Brighton & Hove Albion have acquired the services of Arsenal goalkeeper Hugo Keto, who will join their under-23’s squad.
Hugo Keto signs for Albion on a free transfer following his release from Arsenal.
Arsenal signed Keto from HJK Helsinki in 2014 who went straight into under-18’s. He helped Arsenal reach to the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup in 2015/16 with a hat-trick of penalty saves in shoot-out against Coventry.
Hugo reflects on his Brighton move, reckons this is a ‘perfect’ place to develop himself. Speaking to Brighton’s official website: “I was at Arsenal for four years and was then told that they weren’t going to give me a contract. I started looking at other places to go and my goalkeeping coach at Arsenal knew the Brighton goalkeeping coaches quite well. They looked at my clips and liked what they saw. I came over for a week’s training in April and they told me after that week that they would like to sign me. It’s a great club with great staff and great facilities and it has everything you need as a footballer. That’s what made me choose Brighton.”
Brighton’s under-23s coach Simon Rusk said: “He comes here with a good grounding after his time at Arsenal and will add some good competition for places in the goalkeeping positions. I look forward to working with him closely during pre-season and to see how he develops during his time at the club.”
