Arsenal are looking at possibilities to bring former Chelsea forward Joao Felix to the Emirates Stadium in the ongoing summer transfer window, per recent reports in Spanish media by Mundo Deportivo.
Intriguing Option: Arsenal eye yet another Chelsea flop Joao Felix
The line from West London to North London has been a successful cause off late, with Jorginho Frello as well as Kai Havertz finding form and success at N5 following their move from Chelsea. While many view David Luiz‘s time at Arsenal with frustration, the Brazilian did play an integral role at London Colney during the formative years of Mikel Arteta‘s Arsenal.
Now, the Gunners are looking to bring in another player who found it tough to get going at Chelsea, Joao Felix. The Portuguese ace made just 20 appearances wearing the Blues badge in the 2022–23 season and is now linked with a move to the better side of London.
From diamond in the rough to polished gem? Arsenal hope to refine Felix
The 24-year-old is tied up to Atletico Madrid till 2029; however, he is free to leave Estadio Cívitas Metropolitano this summer following his loan move to Barcelona last year. He is reportedly seen as a problem player who doesn’t fit into their style of play in the Spanish capital.
Joao Felix was hailed as a Messi regen during his formative years at Benfica, which seduced Atletico Madrid to fork out a mammoth £113 million fee to snap his services. However, it has not worked out well for Atleti, as he hasn’t found his footing in Diego Simeone’s style of play.
If Arsenal are interested, it remains to be seen what prices Atletico quotes for the Portuguese ace, as they would look to recoup a significant part of the investment they made to attain his services.
Alongside Arsenal, former Gunners manager Unai Emery is also keeping the 24-year-old as the Spaniard prepares for life in the Champions League with Aston Villa.
