Arsenal were considered favorites to land Velez Sarsfield ace Thiago Almada in the last couple of weeks, though according to reports by The Sun, Manchester City are now pushing to land the Argentinian.
Though Phil Foden is seen as a potential successor to David Silva, its claimed that Pep Guardiola sees Thiago Almada as the Spaniard’s long term heir at Etihad.
City failed to bring in the teenager a year back, but they have reignited their interests in Almanda.
A potential £15million is required to tempt Velez into selling and Almada’s admiration for Carlos Tevez means he wants to play for City and is keen over a move to Etihad.
Mundo Deportivo reported Arsenal’s interest for Almada earlier this month with the Gunners looking to repeat the ‘Martinelli’ trick with Almada.
Almanda has been showing real promise for Velez, and with Mesut Ozil in his thirties – it would be ideal to start laying work for future potential to fill in giving Arteta another talented prospect at number ten.
And as it sands, Arteta’s former boss Pep Guardila will be pushing Almada to join him at Manchester City over the Gunners.
Knowing Arsenal, we’d be reluctant to splash fifteen million bucks for a nineteen year old prospect, – so, City do have an advantage financially. Though Arsenal can promise more first team football at this moment which could help us land him over the City blues.
