Arsenal midfielder Charlie Patino is reportedly “happy” at North London with no potential of a loan move for the player in January, according to journalist Charles Watts. The 17-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Emirates in the winter transfer window but it appears that Patino will stay put at Arsenal at least until the end of the season.
It is believed that Arsenal were keen to send Patino out on loan to another club in order for the youngster to obtain regular first-team football. However, he is now set to be part of Mikel Arteta’s plans in the near future. The Spanish coach has encouraged and promoted several youngsters to the first team ever since taking over the reins.
In fact, Patino was close to being included in Arsenal’s EFL squad to face Wimbledon. However, he didn’t make the cut. The Gunners progressed through to the fourth round of the League Cup with a 3-0 win over Wimbledon.
The EFL Cup is likely to be the best opportunity for Arsenal to field Patino this season. Charlie Patino has shown great potential and is tipped to become a future star at the club.
According to Watts, Arsenal wanted Patino to attain regular football elsewhere. The Championship with thought to be the best place for Patino to show his growth. He came through the ranks at Luton Academy before joining the Hale End academy in 2019. Since then, he has made 34 appearances for the club at the youth level.
Patino put in a string of impressive performances at the U-23 level which has seen Mikel Arteta integrate him into the first-team training at Arsenal. According to reports Arteta is likely to include him in the squad for the upcoming Cup games rather than send him out on loan.
While speaking on his YouTube channel, Watts explained that Arsenal expects Patino to have a similar rise as Bukayo Saka. “Arsenal really really rate Patino. As it stands, he’s not really earmarked as one to potentially go out on loan, he’s more to follow the Bukayo Saka path in pretty much going straight into the first team – that’s the plan for Patino as it stands.” said the English journalist.
Watts also added that Arsenal are lining up a new deal for Charlie Patino.
