Arsenal started their Premier League season on a high note as the Gunners triumphed to a 2-0 win against Wolves at the Emirates Stadium earlier today.
The game was a display of grit and class as Mikel Arteta’s side showed their hunger and determination to grind out a win against Gary O’Neil’s side.
Declan Rice injury concern dampens Arsenal’s euphoria
While the Arsenal supporters around the globe celebrate the three points, it comes with a cause of concern as Declan Rice left the pitch holding his calf in the 85th minute when Gabriel Jesus replaced the England international to see off the Gunners to the three points.

Declan Rice and all other players involved in the European Championship need to be managed carefully, as their bodies are already exhausted going into the new season. This is something that Arsenal fans experienced with hearts in their mouths when Declan Rice hit the ground with Kai Havertz stretching his calves to no advantage until the medical team walked off with the former West Ham man as the Emirates Stadium stood to applause their midfield engine’s performance for the night.
Arteta confirms Rice cramp
Mikel Arteta was quizzed about the Declan Rice injury situation after the game, where the Gunners boss acknowledged that Dec was suffering from cramps during the close of the game.
Boss speaking via football. London, in his post-match press conference, said:
“Arteta confirms Rice was suffering with cramp at the end of the game.”

The Gunners boss was also asked about his thoughts on managing the players involved in the EURO 2024 finals and whether the Spaniard though he would need to leave a few players out of the game because of exhaustion concern where Mikel added, “First of all yeah. You have to really understand where they are. Those kids have been through a lot the past two years. When you see that, that is genuine I think.”
Hopefully it is just cramps for Rice, and he is fit to feature against Aston Villa at Villa Park in seven days’ time.
