Arsenal alongside the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton have been linked with Reims central defender Axel Disasi, but the Arsenal faithful and Mikel Arteta are rejoiced in these tough times as Stade de Reims president Jean-Pierre Caillot admits Arsenal could be Axel Disasi’s next club.
Although Caillot made sure to follow up his comments with confirming other interests for Disasi.
“I’m not surprised by Sevilla’s interest,” Jean-Pierre Caillot told ABCdeSevilla. “We know that they have been watching it all year round. They know him well. I know the interest of Sevilla, of course.
“There are conversations, logically. But it will not be easy.
“At this time, and if there is nothing new, the player is closer to the Premier League. Can it be Arsenal? Can be.
“But I am not saying more about it because it is confidential.
“They have called us from Germany; from Italy, too. In the Premier League there are several clubs that want hum.
“And in Spain, as well as Seville, there are some more.”
“He has exploded here. He is only 22 years old. He is very strong and technically he is good. Throughout the season we have had scouts. Disasi has undoubtedly been key to making us the team with the fewest goals.”
Axel helped Remis to the best defensive record in the French top-tier, conceding just twenty-one goals in 28 games this season.
William Saliba is set to return to Arsenal from his loan spell at St-Etienne after the French top-flight being cancelled and the North Londoners are also perusing a permanent option to sign Flamengo loanee Pablo Mari.
However, Mikel Arteta is said to see Disasi as an ideal partner to Saliba at the heart of defence.
Arsenal can’t rely on Shkodran Mustafi. Meanwhile, David Luiz and Sokratis are in their thirties and may have one or two more years left to offer.
Disasi is just twenty-two with alot of potential in him, any move today will be critical in his development.
