Pundit Troy Deeney believes that Arsenal must sign Newcastle United talisman Alexander Isak to win the elusive Premier League title this season.
The Gunners returned to winning ways by overcoming a resilient Ipswich Town at the Emirates Stadium on Friday. Kai Havertz’s goal in the 23rd minute via a Leandro Trossard assist was enough to seal the game.
The victory pushes them to second place in the league table, six points behind leaders Liverpool. They have leapfrogged Chelsea and will be aiming to reduce the gap at the top.
However, Deeney claims that Mikel Arteta’s team needs a more potent striker like Magpies star Isak to make them clear favourites to lift the PL title. He has been linked to the Gooners for the last few months.

The 25-year-old is a man on a mission. He was the difference maker in Newcastle’s 3-0 victory over Aston Villa, scoring his seventh goal in just five games at St. James Park. It was also his 15th goal contribution in just 16 games in the league this season.
The former Real Sociedad ace has consistently hit double figures in the past three seasons and is on course to surpassing his previous record. Deeney named Isak in his Premier League Team of the Week for his display against the Villains.
He held high praises for the striker, writing on BBC Sport:
“Back again, the man, the myth, Mr. Isak. He’s the best striker in the Premier League currently. Arsenal, just sign him and you’ll win the league; it’s really not that difficult.”
ARSENAL’S HUNT FOR ISAK COULD FALL SHORT
Newcastle rates the Swedish ace very highly and are expecting nothing short of £100 million for him. Considering the financial commitments in this deal, it will be difficult for any team to pull off a move for the player in January.
Isak is under contract until 2028, which means his parent club holds an upper hand in the transfer negotiations. His value will only increase due to his current form.
Also, we have rarely witnessed English teams selling their key players to a direct rival until and unless there is a severe financial burden. Newcastle are going strong, and that makes it difficult for Arsenal to sign their attacker in January.
If there’s a player to throw £100m+ at it’s Alexander Isak. He really is the perfect striker for #Arsenal. Slap the money on the table and hand him the 14 shirt. #AFC pic.twitter.com/I46cqfsWWQ

Things look pretty bleak for the North London outfit as they have to wait until summer to ponder a move. Who knows? Eddie Howe’s team could even secure a spot in the UEFA Champions League next term.

In that case, Isak wouldn’t have to leave his club since he will get the taste of European football. Arteta needs to look for alternative options upfront as they need a solid cover for the injured Bukayo Saka.
