According to German publication Fussball.news, Arsenal have entered the race to sign 17-year-old Norwegian talent Sverre Halseth Nypan this summer.
Signing young wonderkids has become quite normal for literally every professional club in all the major leagues. Having a mix of homegrown and foreign talents helps a club build a competitive squad for the future.
Arsenal enter race for Norwegian wonderkid Sverre Halseth Nypan
A new player on the hot seat is Nypan. The midfielder moved to Rosenborg BK’s senior team in 2020. He has made 51 appearances since then, scoring 10 goals and providing another 10 assists.
Last season, he made nine goal contributions in 19 games, which are great numbers for a teenager. The Norwegian U21 star recently scored a hat-trick in his parent club’s 4-0 win over Lillestrom.
Nypan has attracted several elite suitors this summer—Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal.
United were particularly impressed by the Eliteserien star after his recent display against them in preseason games. Meanwhile, the Gunners are also keen to join the race, and they are convinced by the player’s ability to play in the Premier League in the future.
#MUFC still interested in #Nypan. The player himself is a fan of the club. But #Arsenal also wants to enter the race for Nypan & hold concrete talks soon. MUFC has great appeal in Norway, but they must be careful not to miss out on a Nypan-transfer.https://t.co/hzn4RZt4I9

The versatile midfielder is not eligible to move to a foreign club until he turns 18 in mid-December. Hence, any interested club needs to sign a pre-agreement with the player before proceeding to sign him next summer.

Nypan and his father are Man United fans, and he has talked about his dream of playing at Old Trafford one day. The country has a huge United fan base due to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s legendary status at the Theatre of Dreams.
It might be easier for the Red Devils to attract the player, but the Gunners can also strike an agreement if they move earlier.
Several Norwegian talents like Erling Haaland, Martin Ødegaard, Oscar Bobb, and Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer excelled in the Premier League.
Arsenal can use Ødegaard’s influence to bring Nypan to the Emirates Stadium. The youngster can play as a No. 10 (similar to the Gunner’s captain), central midfielder, or a false nine.
